About me

Hello! I am Bailey Gregory, working and living in the MD/DC area. I have 12 years of experience designing for agency and in-house. I am currently working as an art director for The Hatcher Group, a full-service strategic communications and marketing firm whose solutions spark action. My specialties include branding, visual and user experience design, print design and layout, illustration, and data visualization. Besides design, my other passions include having fun, fashion, my golden doodle Chauncey, and sewing hand made clothing for my 3 amazing daughters.

Art Director

Oversee strategy and art direction for the creative team as well as provided mentoring and art direction to junior staff. Design for digital, print, UX, and motion. Structure and conduct user research efforts to synthesize user insights into feasible data-driven design decisions. Conduct or assist in user research such as user interviews, usability testing, design sprints, customer journey mapping and personas, tree testing, card sorting, eye-tracking, competitive analysis, and focus groups. Work cross-functionally to conceptualize and create engaging and award winning solutions for the agency and it’s clients.

Appian Corporation  /  April 2021 - April 2023

Senior Visual & UX Designer

Working cross-functionally to determine human-centered design solutions that increase conversion rates and elevate user experience across the Appian family of products. Contributing and validating concepts through design, prototyping, and iteration. Assisting with full-scale adoption off Appian’s newly-released design system by providing templated and easily accessible marketing collateral. Helping to establish team norms and cultivate design team maturity by introducing new workflows and tools for collaborative problem solving.

As Art Director I was responsible for the rebrand of Hatcher including the logo, brand guide, marketing collateral, and the website redesign.

Senior Visual & UX Designer

Partnered with research teams and domain experts to find opportunities to integrate user insights into product strategy and design. Responsible for user research, information architecture, interaction and visual design, prototyping, and user testing across web and mobile projects. Design included user experience design, user interface design, data visualization, and branding.

THE PEW CHARITABLE TRUSTS  /  MARCH 2013 - JUNE 2017

Senior Visual & UX Designer

Worked closely with the Creative Director to rebrand the organization, including the logo, typography selection, illustration and iconography styles, marketing collateral and interactions design. Developed template designs for reports, fact-sheets, briefs, and brochures. Produced digital media for the website and designed interactive user experiences for data visualizations and story telling. Responsibilities also included being the mapping specialist on the design team and mentoring the other designers on mapping, template design, and illustration.
